London’s health inequalities have been stark for decades.
It is a city of great wealth and great poverty. Despite our best efforts, little progress has been made in narrowing the gap in health outcomes between different groups of Londoners.

Support & Opportunity.
We believe every person should have the opportunity to lead a long healthy life with equal access to the care and support they need. This unfortunately is not the reality for millions of people living within the UK.
One of our missions is to help reduce health inequality within our local communities. We aim to do this by assisting our members to improve their well-being through opportunity to access specialist support and care services and by encouraging pro-active, healthy lifestyles.
Whilst we are in the process of building our 1-1 support service
Our Vision.
We aim to empower parents from diverse backgrounds by ensuring equal access to educational resources, professional guidance, opportunity and community support
Our aim is to create opportunities that enable every parent to realise their potential, pursue their aspirations, and play an active role in shaping their children's future.
Support For
Families.
Assistance with a range of practical issues such as housing, employment, debt, benefits and support to engage with specialist healthcare services
Career & Educational
Opportunities .
We envision providing a service which will support parents to advance in education, help to secure paid work and get into sporting careers

Health Inequality.
Health inequalities are defined as the avoidable, unjust differences found in the health status of groups of people within a population.
The cause of health inequality within a population is complex.
There are a range of individual, social, economic and environmental factors that play a huge role in defining our health experience.

These factors are known as the Social Determinates of Health
They are often interrelate and most usually beyond an individuals control

The relationships between the determinates influence our health and give rise to health inequality.
For example. It's well documented that
Income, Lifestyle Choices & Access to Care
People with lower incomes and lower social status's participate in higher-risk individual lifestyle choices like smoking & drinking (increases the risk of long term health issues), have worse access to care and support and less opportunity to lead healthy lives in comparison to those who earn more money and live in affluent areas.
Gender, Income & Life Expectancy
In England, in 2019 women living in environments with lower social status & income were 3.5 times more likely to die from an avoidable cause than those in affluent environments. Men in the most deprived areas were 3.6 times more likely to die from an avoidable cause than those in the least deprived areas.
Culture & Longterm Health
It's also been shown that people from ethnic minority groups are more likely than white British people to report long-term illness and poor health, with those identifying as white Gypsy and Irish Traveller reporting the poorest health.
Health Inequality in London.
The variation of health & wellbeing across London borough's is wide.
In 2020-2021 it was reported that those living in the Barking & Dagenham are more likely to die 7 years earlier than those living in Camden. However, Camden & Islington have been said to have some of the widest health inequalities within London. In 2019, it was reported that these boroughs had some of the highest rates of severe mental illness within the country. There's also approx. 12,000 Camden residents living with undiagnosed diabetes and the rate of domestic violence is increasing.
One of the factors that give rise to health inequality is the lack of access to health & community services. That's why we want to ensure all of our members are aware of the range of support and healthcare services in the area. If you like information on these services then please check out our Information & Advice Page.
